Jean-Marie Dance Studio has been a part of the Vincennes Community since 1990 when Virgil & Kathy Lane created Jean-Marie Dance Studio. In 2011, Laura, Kalissa, & Jayla Wagoner bought the studio from Kathy & Virgil to continue offering dance and tumbling to the community. Since then, we have added many talented young teachers to our staff who love to share their passion for dance and tumbling!
Jayla started teaching when she was in High School. She graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in Elementary/Special Education. She received her certificate of dance through the National Dance Education Organization.
Miss Jayla teachers all styles at Jean-Marie. She also choreographs for the Competition Dance Team.
Laura started teaching when she was in High School. She graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in Elementary/Special Education and has an Elementary and Middle School cheer coach for 10+ years.
Miss Laura teaches tumbling and cheer at Jean-Marie.
Zoe started helping and teaching when she was in Middle School. She has been on the Competitive Dance Team for many years now. Miss Zoe will be continuing her education at Purdue with a minor in Dance.
Miss Zoe teaches Ballet, Jazz, Tumbling, and more! While at college, she plans to continue choreographing competition routines for our dance team.
Emily Hinkle began her dance journey at the age of 10 with JMDS. Since then, she has immersed herself in all aspects of the studio, contributing wherever needed and developing her passion for teaching and choreography. In 2024, Emily co-founded the Rising Stars program at JMDS, guiding it to early success through her leadership and dedication.
Emily currently serves as the choreographer for the SKMS dance team and has experience choreographing musicals, recital pieces, and competitive routines.
This year, she will be choreographing competition numbers and offering private lessons. Emily is excited to continue inspiring dancers with positivity and love, both in and out of the studio.
Hi my name is Mallory. This upcoming season will be my second year teaching! I have danced here at JMDS for 15 years before becoming a teacher. I will be attending esthetician school in Evansville this upcoming fall. I can’t wait to see how the season unravels!
Miss Mallory is the Assistant Coach for the Competition Team at JMDS.
Mallory started helping and teaching when she was younger. She has tumbled since she was about 5 years old and was a cheerleader throughout her school years. She has also coached the Middle School and JV/Varsity Cheer squads at South Knox. She is currently a student at VU in the Elementary/Special Education Program.
Miss Mallory teaches Tumbling and Cheer class at JMDS.
Catharine Hudman is a native dancer and teacher from Columbus, Indiana. She has danced for 20+ years with her height of training from Dancers Studio Inc. under the directorship of the critically acclaimed Alma Wiley. While at DSI she had the honor of working with the most prestigious dancers hailing from Dance Kaleidoscope, Gregory Hancock Dance Theater, Louisville Ballet, New York City Ballet, Kenyetta Dance and her closest idol/Fort Worth Texas Theater alumni Martha Parshall Richard’s. Cathari
Her proudest accomplishments have been winning countless choreography awards at several regional and national competitions. Catharine knew from the age of 5 that her dreams would be different from most dancers. Since then she has dedicated her life to learning how to effectively teach for all dancers no matter where they want to go in their dance career and choreographing pieces of art that compliments a students abilities and goals.
Other attributes Catharine possesses that she utilizes constantly in classes are music theory and its adaptation to dance from her time as a concert pianist, flautist and professionally trained opera singer. She was forced to take countless theory classes that she never knew would be so useful today! Acting ability, stage performance and the ways one can tell a story through movement from her 28+ years on stage and 6 years in acting school.
Miss C teaches Tumbling and Cheer class at JMDS.
Above all the #1 connection she is excited to share is Neuroplasticity in dance (mind body connection) that she has focused on her whole life but truly dug into the science as a NASM certified personal trainer of 11 years. Catharine hopes that her unique perspective on training a dancer mind, body and spirit coupled with her creative visions will help continue the incredible
spirit that has been ever present at Jean Marie Dance Studio!
Delaney Arenz was born and raised in Southern California where she trained in dance of various styles. She received a Bachelors degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from MTSU. Throughout her recent years she engaged in the MTSU Dance Program company, dance films, ACDA conference, an internship for Millenium Nashville, and judging for the KAR brand company. Currently Delaney is training students at Scenic City Dance in Tennessee. She is ecstatic to come join the team this upcoming year!
Miss Delaney is the Coach for the Competition Team at JMDS. She will also be teaching many styes of dance classes including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, and more!
Mrs. Marleigh Burris has been dancing since the age of 2 and has spent the past 20 years teaching dance and visual arts to students of all ages.
She teaches ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary, pom, color guard, and baton twirling, blending her deep experience with a passion for helping young dancers grow.
Marleigh studied dance at Western Michigan University while earning her dual degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, and she’s SafeSport certified to ensure a safe and inclusive space for all students.
As a performer, Marleigh has danced in Detroit Pistons halftime shows, appeared with visiting ballet companies at the Wharton Center, served as a four-year captain of her high school dance team, and spent five years as the Featured Twirler for the Bronco Marching Band at WMU. She’s also a 7-time national baton twirling champion and has earned multiple best choreography awards for both dance and color guard.
Her choreography and coaching work has been featured across several schools, and she now leads as the Visual Design and Color Guard Director at Washington High School for the Golden Pride Marching Band, as well as the Lead Color Guard Director for the INpact Band, which performs at the DCI World Championships.
Melissa has 30+ years of dance experience. She spent most of my childhood, taking classes in ballet, jazz, and tumbling.
She was on the cheer team through middle school and for a little while in high school, making the NCA All American Cheer Team.
In high school, she was on the dance team all 4 years. She made the NDA All American Dance Team and traveled to Hawaii her senior year to perform half time at the Hula Bowl.
After high school, she studied exercise science and became a fitness instructor.
She started the first Zumba class in Vincennes and taught Zumba for a few years until life got too busy to continue. She also was certified to teach Hip Hop Hustle and Turbo Kick (kickboxing).
Over my many years of dance, she has gained experience in ballet, jazz, hip hop, cheer, and tumbling.
Avery Candler is a sophomore at South Knox Middle-High School and a proud member of the Spartanettes Dance team. A dedicated dancer for 12 years and a competitive performer for 6, Avery has graced two Walt Disney parades. She is a two year participate at the Miss Indiana Teen. Avery dreams of earning a cosmetology certificate and an MFA in interior design to one day open her own design business while styling hair on the side. She aspires to attend Purdue and dance for the Goldusters.
Miss Avery will be teaching a variety of dance styles and tumbling this season.
Miss Korinne is an alumni of Jean-Marie Dance Studio. Korinne has been dancing for 15 years with JMDS! Her favorite memory is being told the younger dancers look up to her. Korinne's advice to the younger dancers is, “Never quit dancing even if it gets hard. It’s worth the struggle and it will make you stronger as a dancer and as a person.” Korinne plans to attend college and pursue a career in elementary education.
Miss Korinne will be an assistant coach for the competition team.
